Some reminders to help your child succeed in third grade:

1.  Read with them every night.

2.  Practice math facts.

3.  Help your child become responsible with homework and notes and return them to school on time.

4.  Talk about what they have learned in school!

BOOK-IT

The Pizza Hut Book-It Program provides a motivating incentive for children to read. Your chid has an opportunity to reach monthly reading goals. If your child has reached the reading goal set for the month, he/she will receive a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza certificate that can be redeemed at Pizza Hut.  Help your child reach the following monthly goals by encouraging him/her to read, read, read!

Monthly Goals:

October:  4 AR points

November:  4 AR points

December:  4 AR points

January:  5 AR points

February:  5 AR points

March:  5 AR points

Book Club

This year our Book Club goal is 70 AR points.  Each week your child has the opportunity to check out Accelerated Books from our school and classroom libraries.  There are AR quizzes your child may take for each AR book he/she reads.  Points are accumulated and if your child has reached 70 AR points or more, a special activity in the spring will be planned to reward those students who achieved the book club goal.

GRADING

• Third grade uses percents when calculating grades.  
• Test scores carry the same weight as daily homework scores.
• The percentage correct on an assignment is written at the top of the page along with the letter grade.
